Some songs are not just melodies. They are promises. They are emotions. They are moments a bride dreams of. After receiving so many heartfelt requests, I brought you this wedding cover of Mujhe Haq Hai — one of the most beautiful evergreen wedding songs ever created.

“Tumhe haq hai”

If you know the song, you know the line. The original, from Vivah (2006), is a conversation: one voice sings mujhe haq hai — “I have the right” — and the answer comes back, tumhe haq hai, “you have the right”. The right to love, to be close, to belong. That answering line is the heart of the song, and it is the reason so many couples choose it for the day they make their own promises.

The original was sung by Udit Narayan and Shreya Ghoshal, with music and lyrics by Ravindra Jain, in Sooraj R. Barjatya’s Vivah, starring Shahid Kapoor and Amrita Rao. The film follows an engagement and the tender, old-fashioned romance before a wedding, and its music has stayed with Indian families ever since.

Who this is for

This song is for every bride imagining her big day, every couple ready to commit forever, and every lover who believes in sacred promises.

Close your eyes. Imagine walking towards the love of your life while this song plays in the background. The music slows everything down; every step feels like it matters. That is what I wanted this version to feel like.

The cover

I sang it, the music and the mixing and mastering are by R3zR, and Prince Pratap shot and edited the video. It went up on my channel on 27 August 2024.

Ravindra Jain’s melody is gentle and unhurried, and the most important thing in a song like this is not to push it. You let each line land, and you let the promise in the words do the work. It is a song where the pauses matter as much as the notes, and where every word of the promise should be heard clearly.

Would you walk in to this song?

Tell me in the comments: would you choose this as your wedding entry song? Comment “YES” if this song belongs to your big day. Your comments truly inspire me, and they help this song reach more hearts.

If you loved it, share it with someone who is getting married — it might just become part of their day.
